Golden Shovels!

6pm:  What a fun evening (though I am quite sure the neighbors are wondering what on earth they are in for in the future.) 🤣 There was a lot of laughter, we had kids playing king-of-the-hill, and there were sounds of popping corks!  

Mike Riddle (our builder) brought out the GOLDEN SHOVELS, and Devri (our realtor) served as the official photographer.  These two have been instrumental in getting us to this day!

It meant so much to have family & friends there to help us kick this thing off!  😊  We have so much anticipation and excitement to watch things unfold.  

What a great way to end the day (well, except for kids covered in dirt - though maybe that in itself was fun to watch play out!)  😅

Dig Out Tomorrow Morning?!

Mike Riddle just emailed:  "Dig Out Tomorrow Morning"

Those were such amazing words to read a few moments ago!  Sounds like tomorrow is THE BIG DAY, when we will officially get started on this house build!  😊

From here on out, I will do my best to keep the significant updates/pictures posted, as we move through the build-from-scratch process.  We are all very much looking forward to the journey (and we know there will be ups/downs, but that's okay because we know in the end, it will be perfect for us - and worth all the hassle, effort & patience.)

Sounds like we will have our "Golden Shovel" ceremony as well, so will try to get some pictures posted.

Getting Closer...

Few updates to share:

1. We found out that we have to include a NFPA 13D fire suppression system as a part of the build, as all homes in this development are required to have it installed (though nothing was called out in the purchase docs, CC&Rs, etc.)  UGH... that was a budget hit we were not prepared for, so we quickly had to work through it.  In the end, it will be good and add "peace-of-mind," but not something we had planned on. 
2. We will sign with title TONIGHT, so that part will be completed! (No clue what took so long...)
3. Got this update from Mike (builder) this morning:  "I’m working hard to have the dig out next week." 

So, I am hoping to start having plenty of updates/pictures to share soon!  We simply cannot wait!

The Waiting Game (not anyone's favorite part...)

Current Build Status... 

We have been in the waiting game the past few weeks.  However, we now are all approved/ golden on the construction loan from underwriting (as of this week.)  And the plans were finalized and sent to the county for permits today.  It sounds like the county is backed up ~4 weeks for permits, so we will be in for more waiting, but not much we can do there.

But at least there has been movement!
